This year, one of Akommo’s goals is to become a major part of a charity, whether it be local or global, because we believe that giving back to those in need is essential for growth in a company.
This weekend we felt fortunate to have been a part of a charity event. The event was for the homeless and in-need in Barcelona called “Gracia para Llevar” or, “Grace to Go” in English. One of our newest team members co-organised the event, where people in need in the city were able to come pick up food, clothes, and gently-used household items. They were also able to use the laundromat where the event took place for two hours, completely free of charge.
We contributed by purchasing laundry detergent, food, and some bags to help distribute the donations. It’s truly amazing how people’s hearts start to open up around Christmastime, but what about the rest of the year?
It’s so much more than just another positive aspect to add to your CV. Giving back to others in turn gives you a healthy dose of perspective and just how much need there is, just right outside your office door.
Our newest member of Akommo, Olivia, was able to take some photos of this special event, and we are so thrilled to have been able to contribute to the amazing turn-out at Gracia para Llevar.
Look at how many food and clothing donations they received! We were blown away at how much these items helped. Some of the people who attended needed clothes; others, a bite to eat. Some just needed to wash their hands. It was such a privilege to have been able to contribute to this cause.
